IRISH ROVER OFFERS ASA SAILING CERTIFICATION

Irish Rover offers ASA 104 – Bareboat Charter – and ASA 114 – Cruising Catamarans Made Easy – certifications. When you take our classes for ASA 104 and ASA 114, you are getting rigorous and detailed instruction, with lots of hands on practical experience.

Irish Rover is one of the few catamaran instruction sailing out of the Atlantic Highlands, NJ and Port Jefferson, NY.

 

Just starting out?  Need to get your ASA 101 Keelboat and/or ASA 103 Coastal Cruising Certificaiton?  Although we do not offer these courses, we can get you set up with local organizations that do.  Once you have completed your ASA 101 and 103, then you can join us for ASA 104 and 114.

 

If you have extensive sailing experience, you may be able to test out of ASA 101, 103 and/or 104.  If this is something you are interested in, let us know.  We can help arrange for you to take these course challenges with our affiliate ASA school.

What We Offer

 

Irish Rover offers ASA sailing certifications to experienced sailors. Our expertise is sailing catamarans; therefore, we focus on Bareboat Charter and Cruising Catamaran Certifications.   Sign up for the following classes:

 

ASA 104/114 Combo (5 days)

–           July/Aug 31, 1, 2 & 3 (Port Jefferson, NY)

–           September 10, 11, 12 & 13 (Atlantic Highlands, NJ)

 

PRE-REQUISITE:  Potential students must have completed certification in both ASA 101 and ASA 103 in order to register for ASA 104/114 combo class.

 

ASA 114 (2 days)

–        June 5/6 (Atlantic Highlands, NJ)

–        July 10/11 (Port Jefferson, NY)

–        August 21/22 (Atlantic Highlands, NJ)

–        October 2/3 (Atlantic Highlands, NJ)

 

PRE-REQUSITE:  Potential students must have completed certification for ASA 101, 103 and 104 in order to register for ASA 114 class.

What if you don’t have those certifications, BUT you have extensive experience on the water?  That’s what happened to Mark.  He found out that the American Sailing Association offers sailors with extensive experience to challenge the ASA 101, 103 and/or 104 certifications.  If this is something you are interested in, let us know.  We can help arrange for you to take these course challenges with our affiliate ASA school.

 

Our courses are limited to 3 people max.  This ensures that you are getting the absolute most from your experience.

What You Will Learn

ASA 104 – Bareboat Charter Certification

After completing this course, you will be able to skipper a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered keelboat of approximately 30 to 45 feet in length during a multi-day cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of provisioning, galley operations, boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, routine maintenance procedures, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation including basic chart plotting and GPS operation, multiple-anchor mooring, docking, health & safety, emergency operations, weather interpretation, and dinghy/tender operation.

ASA 114 – Bareboat Charter Certification

After completing this course, you will be able to skipper an auxiliary-powered sailing cruising catamaran of approximately 30 to 45 feet in length during a multi-day live-aboard cruise upon inland or coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds (up to 30 knots) and sea conditions. Knowledge of catamaran structure, components and features, performance under sail and power, boat systems, seamanship and safety, heavy weather operation, and emergency response.

Tuition & What’s Included

 

ASA 104/114 Combo

$2,100 (minimum of two to hold the class), plus ASA textbooks: (Bareboat Cruising Made Easy – $39.95) and (Catamaran Cruising Made Easy – $24.95).  Provisions are extra.  $400 discount when two people book together and share a cabin.

 

ASA 114

$1,200 per person (minimum of two to hold the class), plus ASA textbook:  Catamaran Cruising Made Easy – $24.95.  Provisions are extra.  This is a 2 day live-aboard.  $300 discount when two people book together and share a cabin.

 

TEXTBOOK MATERIALS WILL BE MAILED OUT PRIOR TO CLASS.
